One Hundred Years from now, it will not matter what type of car I drove, or what house I lived in; but that the world may be a better place, because I made a difference in the life of a child. Forest E. Witcraft

Do you consider yourself a conscious person, aware and concerned about raising the aspirations of young people?
It is admirable that you are concerned, however it is not whether you are 'concerned' that is important, it is whether you are 'concerned enough'
For when you are 'concerned enough' your rhetoric turns to action, your thoughts and ideas become tangible programmes and your time becomes less of an obstacle to your participation.
Ask not 'what the community is doing about the problems facing our youth?' ask 'What am I doing?'
After a spate of violent incidents Tony Blair recently asked, “What are we doing to affect change in our community?”
This question in my mind was an affront to all the good work that is going on day by day on the ground by many dedicated individuals and organisations. This work goes on despite their lack of funding, resources and recognition.
Unfortunately, this collective work is all too often a 'private response' to what I call a 'public issue'. We need to now deliver 'public responses' to the 'public issues' facing our youth today.
The Woodson Barrow Luncheon endeavours to be one such public response and as a public response we are calling on the public to respond to our call.
We can do it for ourselves. We are at a stage in our development as individuals and as a community where we are more educated, more socially aware and more economically empowered than ever before.
We are seeking 100 'CEI's (Concerned Enough Individuals) to come together and donate just £100 each to support the aims and objectives of the Woodson Barrow Role Model Luncheon. Individuals who donate will listed on our website.

The contributions from these concerned enough individuals, will insure that a legacy is started that will continue year after year. These ‘concerned enough’ individuals will leave a trail of inspired young minds, young people who were motivated to believe in themselves more.
Young people, who were given an extra boost, hope for the future because they were in the company of role models. Individuals who looked like them and shared their same ancestry. For 'what young people see they will aspire to be'

A public response to a public issue, a collective response to the claim that we do not come together and a unified response to our young people that we as adults 'care enough' about their plight to insure that this endeavour happens.
History has taught us that the many always have benefited from the actions of the few. My final question is; are you a CEI? Will you be one of the few?
For those who say 'Who am I?' or 'who are we?' to believe that we can make a difference in our community, I end with these profound words by Marianne Williamson “Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us".
Let us collectively shine on our young people and create a brighter future, filled with hope.
